ABOUT

My name is Kalina, the creative heart behind KVL Design.
I create interiors that are refined, functional and quietly aligned with the way life unfolds within them.A space should feel intuitive and balanced, supporting daily rhythms while bringing a sense of calm and clarity. For me, design begins with attention. By observing both the space and the people who inhabit it, it is able to evolve in a way that feels natural, coherent and lasting.
This way of thinking is grounded in a background shaped by spatial thinking across different scales. I hold a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and a master’s degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam, where I focused on sustainable and future-oriented environments. I further explored architecture at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture and gained experience working on projects within the municipality of The Hague, related to urban development, spatial quality and the built environment.
From this perspective, I approach each project as one complete spatial composition, where layout, materials and atmosphere come together as a cohesive whole.
Approach
The process begins with an in-depth conversation, where we go beyond the space itself and explore how it is lived in, what it should support, and how it is meant to feel over time. This first step creates a clear foundation, allowing decisions to be made with intention rather than assumption.
As the design evolves, choices are refined, allowing the direction to remain clear while leaving space for development. The process remains focused and considered, avoiding unnecessary complexity while allowing space for nuance.
Throughout, there is an ongoing dialogue that brings clarity, alignment and confidence, so the project progresses with focus and ease.
What sets KVL Design apart?
At KVL Design, I design spaces that reflect identity and respond to how life is lived within them. Material depth and spatial rhythm are brought into alignment, creating interiors that feel refined and timeless.
My approach goes beyond aesthetics alone. Each project is shaped through a precise understanding of routines, values and long-term use, allowing decisions to be grounded in how a space will be experienced over time.
Rather than following a fixed stylistic formula, the design adapts to different aesthetics without losing coherence. It is shaped by context and by those who live within the space, where atmosphere and intent are translated into a direction that feels deeply personal and consistent throughout.
My work is layered and intentional. Aesthetics and function are inseparable, and every decision is made in relation to the whole. The result is a home that feels effortlessly right.
